Nitric Acid Bomb - Russian forces have stepped up their attack on the beleaguered city of Severodonetsk by bombing a chemical factory, sending huge clouds of smoke into the sky.
Pictures taken by Ukrainian artillery show a cloud of nitric acid falling as Russian forces press for the strategic city of Severodonetsk in an attempt to turn the tide of the war.

Ukrainian authorities have warned people to stay indoors due to the dangers caused by toxic fumes after the explosion.

Nitric acid, which is yellow or red, is corrosive and can cause severe burns, blisters and scarring on skin contact.
Luhansk Governor Serhiy Haydai said there was a dangerous release of chemicals when Vladimir Putin's forces carried out an air strike on a chemical plant.
An airstrike by a Russian warplane dropped the chemicals, Hayday said, exposing residents to toxic fumes in a city of an average population of 106,000, although many fled the advance of Vladimir Putin's forces.
In his video address, he condemned the airstrikes in the city but added that he was not surprised by the Russian attack.
Russia Ukraine Conflict
"Since there is large-scale chemical production in Severodonetsk, Russian army strikes there, including blind aerial bombing, are complete madness," he said.
"But on the ninety-seventh day of this war, it is no longer surprising that any madness for the Russian army, for Russian commanders, and for Russian soldiers is acceptable."
Meanwhile, Moscow claimed that Ukrainian forces had fallen into a nitric acid tank, causing it to explode and emit orange fumes.
A source in Russian said: "Photos have emerged of a chemical tanker explosion, reportedly containing nitric acid, launched by the Ukrainian armed forces at the Azot plant in Severodonetsk."

Both sides said Russian forces now control between a third and a half of the city - but Ukrainian forces are still resisting.
Russian separatist agents admitted that taking the city had taken longer than expected, despite one of the biggest ground offensives of the war.
This comes at a time when a shocking report revealed that Putin was able to sacrifice his army in an attempt to secure a hollow victory in Ukraine to save his own skin despite losing more than 30,000 soldiers.
A secret analysis of the demonic invasion says the Russian dictator believes his 30,350 troops are "a price worth paying" for a small victory in eastern Ukraine.

He then went on to explain the dangerous effect of nitric acid on humans. "Nitric acid is dangerous if inhaled, swallowed and in contact with the skin," he wrote.
Exposure to nitric acid can irritate the eyes, skin, and mucous membranes when inhaled, swallowed, or touched.
Hayday warned of bronchitis, dizziness and lethargy that usually follow exposure to even mild levels of nitric acid. Under heavy exposure, people are likely to develop pulmonary edema, he wrote, adding that it can also cause vision loss when it gets into the eyes.

In a later post, Haidai gave advice on first aid in case of exposure. "If nitric acid gets into the eyes, rinse them under running water for 10-30 minutes," he wrote.
"In contact with the skin - wash the affected area with water adding baking soda or soap. When nitric acid is ingested, gastric lavage with plenty of water is indicated."
